The name “Pabedilan” originates from an ancient story in which Pabedilan was a hunting ground for the princes of Kasepuhan. In the Sundanese language, the word “bedil” means “gun” or “shoot,” making “pabedilan” refer to a place for shooting or hunting. The story begins when one of the hunting princes encounters an older man, an older adul named Kibuyut Batisari. After a conversation, they decided to establish a village in that area, with Kibuyut Batisari as its leader, as he was the first person to settle there. To this day, Pabedilan is often referred to as Batisari, especially among religious scholars and high-ranking officials from Cirebon.
Pabedilan is located at the edge of Cirebon, serving as the border between West Java and Central Java. The village has great potential in agriculture and livestock farming. It is known for its fertile land, which is why most of the locals are farmers. The main agricultural products include rice, shallots, corn, and vegetables. In addition to farming, many residents are also engaged in livestock breeding, raising goats, cattle, and chickens.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of knowledge about social media and modern marketing. Without understanding online sales or distribution beyond their local area, they tend to sell their harvests to random intermediaries at very low prices, fearing that their products will go unsold.
As a village rich in history and natural resources, Pabedilan has excellent potential for development, particularly in agriculture and livestock farming. However, challenges in marketing agricultural products remain a significant obstacle for farmers. By improving knowledge and utilizing technology, farmers and livestock breeders in Pabedilan can become more independent in selling their products, ultimately leading to greater economic prosperity. The historical uniqueness and natural wealth of Pabedilan make it a village that not only holds historical significance but also has enormous potential for future growth.
