
Cirebon Station is a large type A class train, located in Kebonbaru Village, Kejaksan District. It is one of the two main station (Prujakan Station). The only difference between Kejaksan Station and Prujakan Station is the difference in train availability. Attorney Station, better known as Cirebon Station, carries more Business and Executive Class passengers. And, Prujakan Station carries more Economy Class train passengers.
Cirebon Station is the most important train station because it is on the main train route between Jakarta and Surabaya. The main route is divided into two, the first route connecting Jakarta with Semarang and Surabaya which is the main route between the two big cities on the island of Java, and while the second route connects Jakarta with Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Surabaya and Malang.
HISTORY
Cirebon Station was designed by Pieter Adriaan Jacobus Moojen (1879-1955) by mixing art nouveau and art deco architectural styles. This station is a type of single-face station whose emplacement is parallel to the station building. It has been designated as a Cultural Heritage Station Building.
The train line that passes through Cirebon was built by Staatssporwegen (SS) and Samarang-Cheribon Stoomtram Maatschappij (SCS). SS is a state railway company. SCS continues construction of the railway line from Cirebon to Semarang. The existence of this route is related to the mushrooming of sugar factories along the north coast of Java.
CHARACTERISTIC
Cirebon Station has its own characteristics in terms of the instrumental songs played at the station, the song is entitled “Cirebon City” which is sung by Diana Sastra, one of the famous Cirebon tarling figures.
