
Arak-arakan Memayu Buyut Trusmi is a routine tradition every year to welcome the arrival of the rainy season carried out by the people of Trusmi Wetan Village, Plered Subdistrict, Cirebon District and surrounding areas.
Buyut Trusmi procession actually has a special purpose, namely to repair the roof of the Buyut Trusmi Lama’s Tomb, especially; paseban, pacuncen, jinem, and pewadonan. Arak-arakan Memayu Buyut Trusmi was attend by thousands people from various regions starting at 06.00 WIB. So, the Cirebon Police deployed hundreds of members to secure the procession activities.
People are willing to jostle to see the work of people from the Trusmi area and surrounding areas, such as; Trusmi Village, Weru Kidul, Trusmi Kulon, Kalibaru, Batembat, Dawuan, Wotgali, Kaliwulu, Weru Lor, Weru Kidul, and other villages.
The Trusmi procession usually begins with horse racing and various cultural performances. Then it continues with a display of local community creations such as; ogoh-ogoh shaped statues, and the most attracts people’s attention, especially children are giant statues that resemble animals, such as; dragon, bear, panda, eagle, tiger, lion, etc.
In this Prosession, Various arts from Cirebon also displayed, such as; traditional dances, traditional culinary, traditional music, and batik crafts from Trusmi village. Then, hundreds of horses ridden by local youth and other entertaining performances that make the procession even more lively.
RUTE OF PROSESSION
The procession route starts from Buyut Trusmi especially in front of the Trusmi village hall – (T-junction) – BBC Trusmi Wetan – Warung Bata T-junction – Analuk Batik Trusmi intersection – Weru Traffic Lights – Pasar Kue – Panembahan T-junction – EB Batik T-junction then finishes back at the Trusmi Village Hall.
The public seeamed enthusiastic about watching the procession, many people capturing it using cameras/cellphones. Apart from preserving Cirebon culture, Buyut Trusmi Procession can also be used to a gathering place because many people meet close and distant relatives.
